Book Review: Amy Poehler - Yes Please!

Amy Poehler's Yes Please! was the first audiobook I ever listened to. This opened up a whole new world for me. Ever since I started listening to audiobooks I've become addicted. They're totally perfect for those tasks that don't engage your brain but require you to physically move like commuting or household chores. The book is a witty, funny autobiography on a vast range of topics including Amy's career and motherhood. Also, I've heard the audiobook is funnier than the print book.

"Decide what your currency is early. Let go of what you will never have. People who do this are happier and sexier."

- Amy Poehler, Yes Please!

"Treat your career like a bad boyfriend... Your career won't call you back or introduce you to its parents. Your career will openly flirt with other people while you are around. It will forget your birthday and wreck your car. Your career will blow you off if you call it too much. It's never going to leave its wife. Your career is fucking other people and everyone knows it but you...

Your career will never marry you.

Ambivalence can help tame the beast. Remember, your career is a bad boyfriend. It likes it when you don't depend on it. It will reward you every time you don't act needy. It will chase you if you act like other things (passion, friendship, family, longevity) are more important to you. If your career is a bad boyfriend, it is healthy to remember you can always leave and go sleep with somebody else."
