Three Tomatoes No. 02
I keep forgetting about painting the planes and then the tomatoes come out too round and cartoony. I caught myself about halfway through this time though and attempted to course correct.
Random thoughts while painting this painting: there is a trope in a lot of the romantasy books I read, about how beings with long lives (gods, faeries, etc.) become progressively colder over time. When I was younger, I didn’t really understand why. And now, I feel I get it. Over time, life experiences can cause one to become more cynical and hardened. Interacting with young people, it seems they still have a joy - a brightness and hopefulness in their eyes. It feels fresh and at the same time jarring, as it is a reminder that once upon a time, I used to think and feel that way too.
And for those of you also in the US, Happy Thanksgiving weekend! Best wishes!
