Tiny Abstract Purple
The purple color at the bottom was ultramarine violet, which is a transparent violet color. The gesso with this canvas makes the canvas feel quite plastic-y in my opinion, so minimal absorption. Thus the ultramarine violet did not look that great on its own. I tried mixing with some white to get a more lavender color.
Tiny Abstract Blue
Trying for more movement today and experimenting with more colors layered on top of each other.
Tiny Abstract Red
A riff off of Tiny Abstract Yellow with different colors. I’m really enjoying the yellow circles when they have a lush amount of paint on them.
Tiny Abstract Yellow
I felt like being pretty loose this time and wanted to do an abstract without a reference photo or guide. Just playing around and seeing what comes out of it.
Hawaiian Beach No. 04
Well, just as I was finishing up and getting ready to post this. I went to sit down in my chair, my arm accidentally hit a paintbrush, which was drying in a cup. That paintbrush flipped through the air and landed on this painting. So, it doesn’t look like the photo anymore. It has got some splotches and imperfections where it was hit. Oh sad times.
So, I have learned an important lesson, the paintbrushes should not be next to the drying paintings. They’re now on separate desks, but man, did that make me sad for a minute. I take comfort in knowing this was a mini painting, so it was only hours of my time and not days or weeks.
Enjoy things while they last, life is ephemeral.
